Lugano Pallet Chair
Lugano workshop
Lugano making
Lugano finished chair

Cecilia Glik, gallery owner and charity worker based in Buenos Aires, Argentina has the rights to manufacture the pallet chair in a workshop in Lugano for the charity Amistad O Nada. Cecilia has taught unemployed people in the devastated slum in Lugano, one of the poorest neighbourhoods in Buenos Aires how to make the pallet chair in their cooperative using locally-sourced pallets. The furniture is then sold through local networks or globally through the web, creating employment, income – and affordable, desirable furniture. When the outdoor workshop facilities and lack of safety came to our attention - we decided to help the charity raising funds so they could get a safe workshop environment and a shop/showroom.
Gavin Turk,  Rachel Whiteread and Cornelia Parker each customised a pallet chair in support of the charity Amistad o Nada and help raising funds so the charity could buy a workshop with new tools and expand their business and get more people employed and engaged in making furniture.
