The Danish Crafts Collection is an award-winning annual collection founded in 1999. It presents a curated selection of the best in emerging Danish craft and design at international fairs and in other commercial contexts. For three consecutive years, Studiomama was commissioned to curate and design the Maison & Objet presentation.

Each year we selected a diverse range 20–30 of Denmark’s most promising ceramists, jewellers, textile and glass artists and furniture designers. Their products, all designed and made in Denmark, were anchored in local traditions and infused with the skill of experienced hands and a feel for form, aesthetics and storytelling. The results were relevant and meaningful products that mattered to the maker and made sense to the user.

The selection of makers and the design of the space brought a different theme to life each year.  An emphasis on ‘having more, but owning less’ led the curation for 2013, resulting in a selection of products with provenance and heritage, produced locally by craftspeople, using unique skills and techniques.
