The Danish Crafts Collection, is an award-winning annual collection founded in 1999. It presents a curated selection of the best in contemporary Danish craft and design at international fairs and in other commercial contexts. For four consecutive years, Studiomama was commissioned to curate and design the Maison & Objet presentation. Each year we selected a diverse range 20–30 of Denmark’s most promising ceramists, jewellers, textile and glass artists and furniture designers. Their products, all designed and made in Denmark, were anchored in local traditions and infused with the skill of experienced hands and a feel for form, aesthetics and storytelling.

The results were relevant and meaningful products that mattered to the maker and made sense to the user.Danish Crafts Collection 14, in 2010, was based on sustainable thinking – up-cycling, recycling, reuse and social and local engagement – bringing together what the world has learned about resourcefulness in a way that is relevant to modern living.

Simple, yet highly functional plinths combined with striking wall graphics ensured that the work of these Danish craftspeople caught the eyes of Maison & Objet’s 85,000 annual visitors.
