‘Waste Not Want It’ for Bloomberg

Made entirely from waste

The ‘Waste Not Want It’ project challenged artists and designers to create furniture, lighting and installations made entirely from Bloomberg’s waste for the news agency’s London office.

Studiomama had the commission to create furniture for a conference room made from discarded pallets.

A conference room made from waste

The ‘Waste Not Want It’ project challenged artists and designers to create furniture, lighting and installations made entirely from Bloomberg’s waste for the news agency’s London office.

Studiomama took the ‘Pallet Project’ a step further by working with high-end cabinet makers – taking apart more than 400 of Bloomberg’s used pallets, kiln dry them and transform them into a conference table, a chair suite and a herringbone floor. We counted more than 40 different varieties of wood in the final pieces.

The success of the ‘Waste Not Want It’ project changed corporate perceptions about why useful but redundant wood is regarded as waste and initiated a rolling programme of commissions using Bloomsbury’s waste.
